We’re engineers, customer service representatives, accounting gurus, tech support superheroes, and more — but we’re also real humans. In our new blog series, “Employee Spotlight”, you’ll meet BBP employees, learn about their background and roles, and discover what they like most about working at BBP.

Name: Steven Holland

Title: Projects Team Lead

City of Residence: Hamilton, AL

Hometown: Hamilton, AL

Family Status: Married; Aimee (Wife), Cameron (Son), Owen (Son)

What is your role at BBP?

Evaluate & Execute Project RFQs from Customers and Help BBP Offer the Best Solution to Meet Their Needs. This includes meeting customer specifications, ensuring all requested documentation is provided or can be provided and making sure we are adhering to their submittal requirements to better position BBP to win the project.

How long have you been in the industry?

It will be 11 years come October 2022. I worked as an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer for 8 years prior to coming to BBP in October of 2019. I worked in the EPC world for both Jacobs (Greenville, SC) & Yates (Birmingham, AL).

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Digging into the details of RFQs and making sure that we are hitting all the requirements. I can tell you from experience that a lot of time and effort goes into data sheets and RFQ packages. They purposely put “gotchas” in there to make the evaluation process easier when multiple bidders are being contacted for the same package.

What makes you proud to work at BBP?

The people. I feel that BBP has a great group of people and does a great job retaining individuals that are beneficial for the company. It is nice to have people that will have your back and that you can count on.

What are 3 words to describe BBP? Responsive, Trustworthy, Committed

What is something that most people do not know about you?

I was a member of the Palmetto Curling Club in Greenville, SC. I was a league champion 2 of the 4 seasons I participated in and helped our club bring home the 1712 Cup (Rivalry between Charlotte, NC and Greenville, SC) in May 2012.

What is your favorite quote? Do. Or do not. There is no try. – Yoda

If I could do it all over again, I would:

I’m sure there are some things that I would like to change but I wouldn’t be where I am today or who I am today without those experiences.

Well what type of music do you listen to?

I have 8 stations on Sirius XM that I alternate depending on mood: Classic Rewind (70’s & 80’s Classic Rock), Lithium (90’s Alternative/Grunge), Octane (New Hard Rock), Ozzy’s Boneyard (Classic Hard Rock), Turbo (90’s/2000’s Hard Rock), Fly (90’s/2000’s Hip Hop/R&B), The Message (Christian Pop & Rock) & Symphony Hall (Classical).

What advice do you have for prospective BBP employees?

Always put in your best effort and do not be afraid to seek help when needed.
